Review of Shore Hotel, Santa Monica CA/USA

Modern hotel in top location with friendly staff but without restaurant

For a couple’s stay we chose the Shore Hotel. Actually, we wanted to book a room in one of the upscale, more traditional hotels in Santa Monica but neither their location nor their reviews were convincing enough.

Review of Tower23 Hotel, San Diego

Sleek, modern hotel on the beach in a busy Pacific Beach area

My husband and I booked a room at Tower23 Hotel after an extensive research; we looked at places in La Jolla, on Coronado and in downtown and didn’t succeed to find a congenial hotel.

Review of Argonaut Hotel, San Francisco

Huge Bay View Suite in central location with friendly staff

Our three-person family actually fancied a five star hotel for our tree days’ stay in San Francisco but we didn’t find one appealing to us so we decided for one of the suites at the Argonaut.

Review of North Block Hotel, Yountville CA/USA

First-rate facilities around nicely arranged grounds for uptown tastes

For our stay in Napa Valley we chose Yountville as this small town is not only charming but offers a lot of high end restaurants. As a hotel we went for the North Block Hotel at the one end of this town where anything is in walking distance and – as it seems – pricey, including our hotel.

Review of Brewery Gulch Inn, Mendocino CA/USA

Upscale accommodation & culinary enjoyment in a preferred setting

The stay at this wonderful inn was one of the highlights of our trip along the Oregon and Northern Californian Coast. We only had one night there and we didn’t want to miss the acclaimed wine and light dinner buffet hour.

Review of Ocean View Inn and Suites, Crescent City CA/USA

First choice on site, spacious and well-equipped rooms

When traveling on the north west coast we needed to stop at Crescent City not because of its beauty but due to the necessity to rest. There are few accommodation possibilities for demanding travellers and so we settled for possibly the best hotel on site, the Ocean View Inn & Suites.

Review of Overleaf Lodge and Spa, Yachats OR/USA

Amazing ocean views, dated furnishing, good breakfast

Our trip along the Oregon Coast lead us for a one night’s stay to this uniquely located family-owned hotel offering unparalleled ocean views.

Review of Pier Hotel and SPA, Astoria OR/USA

Beautiful setting, good comfort

We (family of three adults) spent one night in this beautifully located hotel built right on the pier with fantastic views of the Columbia River.

Review of George Washington Inn, Port Angeles WA/USA

Comfortable B&B in nice surrounding

Our family of three chose this lovely situated Bed and Breakfast for our two days’ stay destined for hiking in the Olympic National Park.

Review of Magnolia Hotel and SPA, Victoria/Vancouver Island

Well-equipped rooms in favorable location

The Magnolia was our choice for a two days’ stay in Victoria in order to explore the town and its surroundings. And we were satisfied with our decision.

The hotel is ideally located in downtown. The building is – in my view – no feast for the eyes but for us this wasn’t that important.

Review of Rosewood Hotel Georgia, Vancouver

Up to date historical hotel in perfect location

My husband, our adult son and opted for the Rosewood for our three days’ stay in Vancouver. The hotel lived fully up to our expectations!

The centrally located historical hotel underwent a comprehensive renovation (finished in 2011) that can be considered as very successful.

My first blogpost after a long break

Swiss Traveler is back - still watching out for the best hotels and restaurants!

Here I am again! Three years ago, I stopped blogging because I was busy doing a teacher training and working in this job for more than two years (teaching German and English). In the meantime, I quit and decided to blog again about my life as a "Swiss Traveler".
